About Us

Learn all about Megan and Amy, the inseparable pair behind the Mamie brand and the wonderful tribe of women who help make Mamie happen!

The story behind the Mamie Boutique

Ten-plus years ago, lifelong best friends Megan Healy and Amy Trelenberg decided to pursue a dream that had been brewing since their teens. Putting aside the fear that comes when you take the road less traveled, they left behind safe, full-time jobs and opened an online boutique called Shopmamie.com.  The Mamie, of course, is a blend of their two names. They were inspired to provide young women a way to look fabulous on a budget and filled their new website with affordable, trendsetting fashions.

It was hard, of course, and there were bumps along the way, but it wasn't long before Meg and Amy were able to open a boutique on Gilpin Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware. Now, local customers could enjoy an in-store experience and the personalized service that is the hallmark of the Mamie brand. A second boutique in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania soon followed. The Mamie vision expanded to include fashion that would appeal to women of all ages. Updated classics were added to the trendy mix of styles. And Shopmamie.com continued to provide round-the-clock shopping for customers outside the area.

A note from Megan and Amy, the Mamie girls:

"The entire process of starting Shopmamie.com, and then, opening two boutiques, has been a little surreal, crazy at times, and definitely hard work. It's been scary, challenging, and demanding, but most of all, it has been incredibly rewarding. We have surprised ourselves each step along the way, trusting and believing in our dream, and at the end of the day, we look at each other and realize...we love what we do."

"I love the social aspect of meeting and forming relationships with so many people and helping them find the right outfit that they will feel good in."

Try on everything that catches your eye even if you don't think it's your style; you never know what is going to look good on you."

Alex fell in love with Mamie merchandise and used to come to the Mamie office with both of her daughters, so they could try clothes on and allow her to pay for them!

Her favorite part of her Mamie job is getting to know her repeat customers and really forging a special relationship with them.  With the store being so small, Alex finds she really becomes familiar with even the occasional customer.

Alex believe sit is important to give her honest opinion to a customer, when asked. She doesn't want someone to leave the store with an item that is not becoming on them. She enjoys offering a few different styling ideas for an outfit - shoes, jewelry, accessories.

Alex is married with two daughters. Kristin is married and lives in White Marsh, MD and Sophia moved back to Wilmington after three years in NYC.

Alex enjoys exercise classes at the Y and reading. Her happy place is Avalon, NJ and she spends as much time as she can down there. "I can sit all day on the beach with a good book, after my morning bike ride. I love traveling, too! I just hate the process of getting there."

Alex volunteers every Monday at Waggies by Maggie and Friends and loves every second spent there.

Kathy has been happily  married for 3+ decades to Pete and has four children - Ryan, Mary Kathleen, Shannon, and Kyle . She'll be a grandmother soon and cannot wait! Kathy is an avid runner, and also enjoys scrapbooking and cheering on the Nittany Lions.  She travels to Seattle and Chicago to visit her daughters and has loved seeing all the sites our beautiful country has to offer. Her favorite times are when her family is all gathered together .

Kathy is well-known to Mamie's Wilmington customers and she thinks of them all as good friends. She loves catching up with the regulars who pop in and out and making new friends with Mamie newbies. She enjoys helping customers find styles that flatter them and make them happy.

Kathy's fashion advice - "You can wear just about anything if you feel good in it.  When you feel good about yourself, you look fabulous!"

Pam is delighted to be at Mamie Boutique for her fourth career! After college, she worked for an ad agency in Wilmington, then took time to be home with her two children. Her third career started with a temporary copywriter job at QVC. "I never suspected I'd be there 22 years and end as Director of Creative Operations, leading the talented teams that create QVC's website and emails."

But retirement wasn't for Pam, so she reached out to the Mamie girls, Megan and Amy, who she knew because they attended Archmere Academy with her son. Pam helps out with the website and the Mamie store staff.

When not working, Pam loves spending time with husband Jed, two grown children, Katelyn and John, son-in-law Jeff, her lovable rottie Kelcey, and, of course, her two fabulous grandchildren, Madeline and Harrison. If you ask, she will show you pictures of them!

Donna is originally from Hockessin, DE and now resides nearby in Avondale, PA. She's been married for 22 years and has three fabulous kids: her daughter and son attend Penn State, and her youngest daughter is a freshman is high school.

When Donna left her banking career and pondered what to do next, she thought about the things she loves to do.  Like shop!  Donna had shopped the Mamie Boutique in Wilmington with her girls, and when she saw they were opening a store in Kennett, she jumped at the opportunity!
Donna  currently has a full-time job at The Independence School and continues to work the occasional hours at the store.
Why do I like working at Mamie?
"I love meeting our customers and helping them create the perfect look.  I think I have a knack for pulling things together and this job lets me fulfill that love. The most satisfying part is when someone who might think they won’t look good in something actually steps out of her comfort zone, tries on something she otherwise might not, and then sees how great she looks! The immediate boost in confidence is awesome!  My advice to customers: don’t limit yourself because you think you're too old or too young for a certain style. Not everything will work, but at Mamie we believe you can be fashionable and trendy at any age."
Kelly joins us by way of Ohio, but has been in North Wilmington for many years. Her two sons are both in college now, one at the University of Dayton, Kelly's alma mater, and one at Boston College.  Her retail roots run strong, having worked as a buyer at Wawa before her children came along and she is looking forward to getting back into the retail fray. She's an avid photographer and runner and enjoys traveling.  Kelly says "I have always believed that retail therapy is a real thing...finding just the right new item for your wardrobe can make your whole day brighter!"

Kelly will be working primarily in our Wilmington store.
